Alessandra Viegas is an NYC-born, LA-based playwright and screenwriter. She loves My Chemical Romance, women’s sports, and whales. Her plays are about all of these things, and also explore grief, queerness, and time.

Alessandra’s plays have been read and workshopped at The Villa Aurora, The Ebell of Los Angeles, The Wende Museum, First Kiss Theatre, The Garry Marshall Theatre, and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. She was a Co-Lead Writer on Sacrifice Zone: Los Angeles, a multimedia theater project performed at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles in 2024. Her play, CHIMERA, was a semi-finalist for the O’Neill Theatre 2025 National Playwrights Conference. Her play, A Writer At The End of the World, was selected for the 2025 Climate Action New Play Collective at DePaul University and was recorded for First Kiss Theatre’s Play-Mates Podcast in 2024.

Alessandra is a member of EST/LA’s 2025 New West Playwrights cohort.
She holds an MFA in Dramatic Writing from the University of Southern California.
